Extreme Pipelay Assistance Completed in West Africa 23.12.07
A ROV pipe lay assistance campaign including Touch Down Monitoring (TDM) has been recently completed by DNT Offshore in West Africa. The operations has been executed in Congolese and Angolan waters close to the mouth of Congo river. The area is well known to be one of the most challenging zones of the planet for ROV operations due to the massive flow of water coming from the Congo river (the second largest flow behind Amazon). The ROV operations have been conducted for the whole duration of the project (5 months) with close to zero visibility and strong sea current (up to 4,2 knots recorded). The super-powerful Cougar HP #1407 was equipped with a complete suit of specific sensors, including pipetracker, dual head profilers, boom cameras, gyrocompass c/w motion sensor, LBL and USBL transponders, bathymetric systems, etc. DNT Offshore Management wish to publicly thank the internal Operative Personnel that successfully handled this extreme operation in Africa.
